Vale Food Festival
Sunday 23rd June
The Fleece Inn supports the Vale Food Festival this year and will be providing the beer tent and bar.
Transition Evesham Vale is planning an exciting list of events in June this year to celebrate the quality, abundance and taste of Vale food. The events include a day-long Food Festival on June 23rd showcasing local food, products and restaurants and the publication of a local food directory. The festival is linked with the National Morris Festival on the 21st - 23rd June. The vibrant Morris dancers bring thousands to Evesham on the third weekend in June every year.
The Food Festival team are inviting local restaurants and cafes in the week before the festival to adopt the idea of a “local menu” which is made up of at least 30% locally sourced produce from a radius of 30 miles around Evesham.
“We call this the 30:30 Taste of the Vale” says Chair of the Food Festival Committee Stephen Martin. “There is growing evidence that diners are more likely to eat at restaurants that offer good local food. And we shall encourage local supermarkets to showcase as many local foods as possible during the pre-festival week”
After last year’s inaugural Food Festival proved such a success, this year promises to bring more mouthwatering local treats to tempt the tastebuds – fruit juices, ice-cream, cakes, jams, cheeses and selections of local beers, ciders and wines, plus local restaurants providing snacks and meals, to encourage us to eat and buy local – Vale First.
